Tightrope Books is very excited to announce that Toronto singer Abigail Lapell will be playing a handful of dates for us this fall and next year! Her first will be at the Toronto leg of Best Canadian
Poetry in English 2012 at Revival Bar on Monday October 15th at 8pm, the same night Alanis Morissette is in town! Abigail is a folk-noir singer-songwriter who draws her sound from indie and traditional folk influences. Her music has captivated audiences across North America and Europe. Haunting melodies, a crowd-hushing voice, evocative lyrics and sparse plucked electric guitar — Abigail’s debut album, Great Survivor (2011), is a collection of new songs featuring a talented cast of Toronto collaborators. Abigail has showcased at festivals like NXNE, Pop Montreal, Winterfolk (Toronto), Sappy Fest (Sackville, NB) and In the Dead of Winter (Halifax), and has shared stages with the likes of Rae Spoon, tUnE-yArDs, Snailhouse, and Greg MacPherson, among many others. Be sure to pick up a copy of her latest CD at any of our events.
